Presentation to Renal Unit at Southmead Hospital

Following on from our successful 2026 Annual Art Exhibition, several members of Frome Valley Art were invited to present a big cheque to the Renal Unit at Southmead Hospital, our chosen charity. This money was raised from donations made at the exhibition through commission deducted on painting sales, plus a raffle, closed bids on three paintings and our ever popular refreshments table. During several weeks following the art show, donations still came in via the charity bucket at the Greenfield Centre, in a local store and via online donations. The final amount raised was a huge £1,100!

The presentation took place on July 2nd in the main foyer of Southmead Hospital, Bristol handing the large cheque to Sandra, along with Graham out of shot in photos for a reason (see below). This was possibly the last presentation made to directly to the Renal Unit as all the charities at Southmead, BRI and Weston hospitals have merged into one. Working with Sandra and Graham and the charity was a pleasure on many counts and we have decided to continue to support Southmead as our charity for our 2027 art exhibition.

As mentioned above, Graham was present but declined inclusion in the photographs for in his arms he clutched an exceedingly cute 12 week old Labrador puppy named  Aoife (an Irish name meaning “beauty”). He and Sandra are raising Aoife for her first year, guiding, training and socialising leading to the puppy becoming a guide dog. She certainly drew a lot of attention, bringing a smile to everyone’s face who saw her.
