Paul Weaver’s Demo in Line & Wash

On 10th Februrary we were treated to an informative and brilliant demo of line & wash by long-standing friend and regular demonstrator at our art group: PAUL WEAVER.

Paul started this two-hour session by showing us how to sketch figures, explaining how the proportions of body length of a person is equal to 7x the length of the head, the head always being drawn as an oval, never a circle. February’s Artist of the Month

Welcome to our second Artist of the Month. Dave Betty is one of Winterbourne Art Group’s more experienced painters working in watercolours. He enjoys visiting art exhibitions and participating in workshops held by professional artists both in the UK and aboard. He is a regular exhibitor at our annual art exhibition, this year held over the weekend of 13th/14th May. In 2022, one of his watercolour paintings was highly commended and exhibited at the SAA Artist of the Year Awards. Read on

Artist of the Month Feature Goes Live

Our new feature “Artist of the Month” on our website kicks starts our 2023 year by going live. Each month we will bring one of our group to the fore showcasing examples of their work. Many of the paintings shown will be available for purchase.

Why have we created this feature? Winterbourne is a small village in South Gloucestershire. Each year during May, the group holds its annual public art exhibition. We appreciate not everyone who would like to come, can. Either they live too far away, have no transport means or our dates do not suit. This feature is but one way of bringing our work to the wider public, and to encourage not only new members to join us, but to inspire people to paint regardless of level and talent. Painting is fun, at times frustrating, but is a great way to forget your worries and a marvellous stress reliever.
