Our Feature Artist of the Month is: Karen Whyte

Karen says: “I have always been a creative and was encouraged from an early age by my family to knit, sew, craft and draw. I have always preferred to draw in graphite pencil but during lockdown I finally found time to experiment with pencil crayons and pastels, introducing colour to my work for the very first time. As our world began to open its doors once again, I was gifted a course of watercolour lessons and found a new joy! Eager to learn all that I could I visited an exhibition at the Greenway Centre, Winterbourne and fell in love with the group that organised it. Here I am now in my second year and I can’t recommend it enough! It is the most warm, friendly and inspirational group of talented people you could ever wish to join. Whether you need to hone your skills or learn from scratch, this is the place for you. I love to immerse myself in my art and find it a way to escape from the stresses of life. My art is extremely varied in subject matter, style and medium as I am always eager to try new things. There is no better feeling than when a piece of work is completed and knowing that it contains a little piece of your soul.”
